Modi Cabinet Decisions: Modi cabinet approved a package of Rs 1.64 lakh crore for the revival of BSNL

Union Minister Ashwani Vaishnav said that BSNL’s dues of Rs 33,000 crore will be converted into equity, as well as the company will issue bonds to pay off bank loans of Rs 33,000 crore.

Ashwini Vaishnaw on BSNL: The Modi cabinet today approved the revival package for BSNL. After the cabinet meeting, Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that a package of 1.64 lakh crores has been announced. The first package was given in 2019. He said that the Cabinet has approved the merger of BSNL and Bharat Broadbank Network Limited.


Also, Vaishnav told that under the second decision, the cabinet approved a package of 26316 crores for connectivity in the villages today. The villages which have 2G have been approved to get 4G service. Order has also been given for the border area. The border area will also include Eastern Ladakh where 4G can be brought. The Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Communication will explain how 4G network can be brought in the border area.
